Why volunteer for Heart and Stroke Foundation?
Volunteering is a work of heart!
Heart disease and stroke are the leading cause of death in Manitoba, taking more lives than any other disease in this province.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation is a volunteer-based health charity, which leads in eliminating heart disease and stroke through the advancement of research, the promotion of healthy living and advocacy. Our work greatly depends on the generosity and selfless commitment of our volunteers.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, playing a critical role in all aspects of the Foundation’s work and helping us reach into communities across the province. They lead us, by serving on our Board of Directors; sustain us, by assisting us in our offices; and build us, by engaging in community events that raise awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke research and prevention in the province.
History of volunteers
It is largely because of our volunteers’ efforts and ongoing support that the Foundation today is the largest non-government funder of heart disease and stroke research in Canada. Last year, the Foundation provided funding to 1,500 researchers in universities and hospitals across the country, supporting a vast array of research discoveries from new medicine that can erase the effects of stroke to genetic therapies that reduce congenital heart defects in children.
When you volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation, you can make a real difference.
Register now to become a Heart and Stroke Foundation volunteer and join our incredible community of life-savers. Health lives free of heart disease and stroke. Together we will make it happen.
